That kind of loss is incredibly painful, especially when your adult kids don’t know Christ. How do you explain how a loving God allows such suffering? Psalm 119:71 says, “It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn Your decrees.” While loss is hard, God can use suffering to draw us closer to Him. When talking with non-Christian adult kids, acknowledge the pain and grief they feel. Explain that in a broken world, suffering happens, but God is still loving. Share how God’s comfort has carried you and that even in pain, He’s working for good. Encourage them to seek God, who offers hope and healing. Be patient and pray—God may use this time to soften their hearts.
