It’s not easy teaching our kids patience. In a culture where we all want our kids to be happy, we don’t want to force our kids to wait. Let’s face it—when they’re young, who wants to hear them cry and carrying on, right? But the reality is we have a responsibility to teach our kids to have a positive work ethic. Doing work to earn money to purchase something they want helps them understand hard work is important. So, how do we do it? Start with an allowance for doing an everyday job, like making their beds and keeping their rooms clean. But if they help with a special project, pay them a little extra. Work isn’t a four-letter word—it’s a blessing.
