Tomorrow is Saint Patrick’s Day. What is it? March 17 the anniversary of Saint Patrick’s death. At 16, he was kidnapped by Ireland from Roman Britain in the late 4th century. He escaped. He later returned to evangelize a pagan Ireland starting churches, schools, and monasteries. Saint Patrick wrote, “I am greatly a debtor to God who has bestowed his grace so largely upon me that multitudes were born again to God through me.” Legends sprung up like driving out snakes, or using the shamrock to describe the trinity. Now, it’s a day of parties and parades. As parents, do we want our kids to participate? I’m not going to tell you either way, but if we know who Saint Patrick is it many help us decide.
